NJCU FALLS TO FARMINGDALE, 3-0, IN WOMEN’S SOCCER

JERSEY CITY, NJ…Farmingdale State University scored two first half goals and the Rams defense made the lead hold up as FSU blanked New Jersey City University, 3-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer game on Wednesday afternoon at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex.
 
NJCU falls to 3-13-0 overall, with four straight losses, while Farmingdale improves to 7-6-2, with its fifth win in six outings. FSU leads the all-time series, 4-2-1, with four straight wins between the teams. The Rams outshot NJCU, 19-10. There were a combined 18 offsides whistled in the game.
 
Freshman keeper Kimberly Sontag (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) recorded three second half saves to help her team to the shutout. In defeat for NJCU, junior goalkeeper ALEXIS CHISARI (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) made 10 saves.
 
FSU struck first on a breakaway goal at 20:05 by senior midfielder Jessica Graziano (Levittown, NY/Division Ave) with the assist coming from freshman midfielder Tricia Pickford (Massapequa Park, NY/ Massapequa). It was her first goal of the season.
 
Freshman forward Christina Cascio (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) notched her team leading 11th goal of the year at 36:09, scoring off a thru ball from freshman forward Janelle Reif (New Hyde Park, NY/Herricks).
 
Freshman forward Renee Schondebare (Selden, NY/Newfield) tallied her sixth goal of the season at
59:35 of the second half to conclude the scoring.
 
Senior midfielder REEM HANA (Iselin, NJ/JFK Memorial) posted four of NJCU’s 10 shots, including two on goal.
 
NJCU returns to action on Monday, October 23 at 3 p.m. when it hosts The College of New Jersey in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
