NJCU TO PLAY RAMAPO IN NJAC QUARTERFINALS, FEBRUARY 21

EWING, NJ…Senior swingman MARK WASHINGTON (East Orange, NJ/West Side) scored 19 points and seized eight rebounds, and junior power forward DEVIN DAVIS (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional) highlighted the action with 17 points, seven boards, five assists and four blocks, as New Jersey City University won its sixth consecutive game, thumping The College of New Jersey, 80-65, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference men’s basketball game at Packer Hall. It was the regular season finale for both squads. NJCU shot nearly 60 percent from three-point range in the win (13-22).

NJCU (17-8, 12-6 NJAC) clinched the No. 3 slot in next week’s NJAC Tournament, and will host sixth-seeded Ramapo College in the conference quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 21 at 7 p.m. at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center. Ramapo finished in a three-way deadlock for sixth place with Montclair State and Kean University, but owned the tiebreaker because the Roadrunners were 3-1 against those schools during the regular season. TCNJ (17-8, 11-7 NJAC) will hosts Rutgers-Newark in Tuesday’s other first round game.
