JERSEY CITY, NJ…The New Jersey City University men’s indoor track and field program, which finished fifth at the 2006 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship in just the fourth year since the program was reinstituted, will be featured on CBS Television, on Saturday, April 22 at 1pm, as part of the hour-long special, CBS Sports Presents Championships of the NCAA. CBS is channel 2 in the New York market.
Also featured will be NJCU junior field star
HYRON GRIFFITH (Jersey City, NJ/Combermere Secondary, Barbados), who entered the 2006 championships as a favorite in both the long and triple jumps but had his NCAA participation cut short with an ankle injury. CBS will discuss
Griffith’s dreams of qualifying for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, for his native Barbados.
The feature, shot at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Northfield, MN on March 10-11, will be mark the second year in a row that NJCU has had a track athlete’s story told as part of the national broadcast. CBS spoke with head coach

It will also mark the fourth time in the last 12 months that an NJCU athletics team has been featured on national television. The women’s bowling team was featured on Fox Sports’ NCAA On Campus in January, 2006. In October, 2005, the MSG Network’s Metro Soccer Report focused on the NJCU men’s soccer team.
