JACQUELINE LeBLANC (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) bagged a match-high 16 kills and sophomore middle blocker
SARAH TORRES (Elizabeth, NJ/Science) added 13 kills and a .750 hitting percentage as the
New Jersey City University women’s volleyball team won its third consecutive match, sweeping Lehman College, 3-0 (30-14, 30-18, 30-12) in a non-conference match at the APEX late Wednesday.
With the win, NJCU improves to 3-2 overall while leading the all-time series, 15-8. Lehman falls to 2-3. NJCU hit a collective .474 as a team, with 56 kills and only 11 errors in 95 attacks.
LeBlanc paced the attack with 16 kills (16-5-32), a .344 percentage, and four blocks (two solo).
Torres landed 13 kills and made only one error in 16 swings to hit .750. She rejected four blocks, including three solo. Sophomore setter
SOFIA GUTIERREZ (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) delivered 37 assists to set-up the offense.
Junior middle blocker
LIZZELLE CINTRON (Newark, NJ/Elizabeth)—the reigning New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Week—increased her program record career kills total to 1495. She needs five to reach the unprecedented 1500 kill plateau. She blasted 12 kills (12-2-18) for a .556 percentage, and added nine digs, six blocks (three solo) and three aces.

MICHELLE CINTRON (Newark, NJ/Elizabeth), chipped in nine kills (9-2-17) for a .412 rate. Junior outside hitter
GLORINELL PEREZ (Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth) did not make an error in 11 attacks, hitting .545 with six kills and two blocks. She defended a match-high 13 digs to increase her career total to 1,222. She needs 57 more to become NJCU’s all-time leader. Sophomore libero
LYANELLY NEGRON (Union, NJ/Union) added nine digs.
Junior setter NADIA DaSILVA (Newark, NJ/Science) had 10 assists in one game.
NJCU will return to action on Friday, September 8 when it competes in its second tournament of the year—the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic in Gettysburg, PA. The Knights face Lycoming College at 3 p.m. on day one of the tournament, and Messiah College at 7 p.m.
