FULL RESULTS
LANDOVER, MD…Sophomore #DONNIE BELLAMY, Jr.# (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) timed 7.17 seconds in the 60-meter dash to post the fastest time among Division III athletes in the predominantly Division I/II field, and highlighted results for New Jersey City University men’s indoor track and field team at the University of Maryland Terrapin Invitational, held at the PGSL Center on January 20. There was no team scoring at the event.
Bellamy was tied for 17th of 48 athletes overall, but had the fastest time of the 10 Division III athletes who sprinted in the race. In the 400-meter dash, he clocked 55.14.
Freshman
ANTHONY CASTAGNA (Jersey City, NJ/Hudson Catholic), in only his second meet as a member of the Gothic Knights, placed 18
th of 31 overall in the shot put, with a throw of 12.69 meters (41-7.75). His distance was third best among the 10 Division III athletes in that event.
In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman
ANDRE MITCHELL (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) ran 9.36 seconds for 25
th among 33 starters. He was 46
th overall in the 200 dash in 54.99 seconds.
Freshman
LIONEL KING (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) placed 33
rd of 47 in the 200-meter dash in 23.90 seconds, and was third of nine Division III runners. He finished 41st in the 60-meter dash in 7.50 seconds.
Freshman #RONALD DOWNING, Jr.#
(Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) ran 24.14 in the 200 dash, taking 38
th place, and sixth among Division III sprinters. He ran 56.56 in the 400. Freshman
TED SIMON (Jersey City, NJ/University Academy Charter) marked 11:05.45 in the 3000-meter run.
NJCU’s next date of competition is Saturday, January 27 when it will be part of the Wesleyan University Invitational in Middletown, CT, beginning at 10 a.m.
