New Jersey City University won its 35
th consecutive home court match, sweeping John Jay College, 3-0 (30-17, 30-20, 30-18) in a non-conference contest Thursday night at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center.
NJCU improved to 14-4 overall, and now leads the all-time series, 18-2, with 14 consecutive wins against the Bloodhounds (5-9). NJCU is 35-0 at home over the last four seasons.
Carvalho hit .526 with 11 kills and only one error (11-1-19), adding three digs. Ramirez added a .333 percentage (6-1-15), four aces and four digs.
NJCU senior middle blocker
LIZZELLE CINTRON (Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth) only played the first game of the match, and hit .625 in that span, with six kills (6-1-8) and two aces. She increased her career kills mark to 2,615.
Freshman setter
ALEX JOHANESEN (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) delivered 17 assists, while senior setter

John Jay, which had only 17 kills in the contest, received more than half from senior outside hitter Sara Altamirano (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy), who contributed nine winners (9-5-23) and a match-high nine digs.
NJCU returns to action on Tuesday, October 2 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Rutgers-Newark in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest. John Jay next plays on September 29 in a tri-match at Kean University.
