JACQUELINE LeBLANC# (Westfield, NJ/Westfield), swept a non-conference match from the Gothic Knights, 25-11, 25-22, 25-13, Wednesday night at Gooding Arena. It was the 2008 regular season finale for NJCU and the first meeting between the schools in women's volleyball.
With the loss, NJCU's record falls to 14-10 entering the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament on November 4. Haverford, which was ranked as high as 18th nationally earlier this season, is 19-6.
In defeat,
LeBlanc ran her career kills total to 1,344 with a line of 11-6-31, adding one solo block. Junior
middle blocker JENNIFER HATCH (Paterson, NJ/Mary Help of Christians Academy) hit .385 with five kills (5-0-13) and senior middle blocker SARAH TORRES (Elizabeth, NJ/Science) added four kills and three service aces. The remainder of the club tallied just one kill.

ALEX JOHANESEN# (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) delivered 20 assistswhile senior libero LYANELLY NEGRON (Union, NJ/Union) defended 10 digs.
The Fords were paced by junior outside hitter Rebecca Salvo (La Cañada, CA/Flintridge Sacred Heart) with 12 kills and a .526 hitting percentage (12-2-19), with seven digs. Freshman setter Kate Comey (McLean, VA/McLean) dished 41 assists with two aces and two blocks as the Fords had 15, 16 and 14 kills, respectively, in each set.
Haverford also received 10 kills (10-3-19) and a .368 attack rate from sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Cantwell (Newport News, VA/Warwick), adding seven digs. Junior outside hitter Rachel Salvo (La Cañada, CA/Flintridge Sacred Heart) contributed seven kills for a .353 percentage (7-1-17), 11 digs and two aces. Sophomore outside hitter Franny Glick (Yorklyn, DE/Tower Hill School) had five kills (5-1-13, .308) and two aces. Freshman middle hitter Jenine Abbassi (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Friends School) had five kills (5-2-8), hit .375, and had three blocks.
In the opening set, NJCU trailed 11-8 before the Fords scored 14 of the final 17 points to breeze to victory. Haverford hit .667 in the game with 15 kills (15-1-21),
In the second set, NJCU gained a 13-11 lead on a kill by Hatch, before a kill by Glick, an attack error, and an ace by Glick put the Fords in front for good. HC's lead swelled to 21-16. The Knights battled back and trimmed the deficit to 22-21 after a Torres ace and subsequent backrow kill. But a kill by Rachel Salvo made it 23-21. LeBlanc made it a one-point game with a kill, before the Fords capped the set with a kill and ace. Haverford then vaulted out to a 17-4 lead in the third set and were never challenged.
