JERSEY CITY, NJ…Despite a rare hiccup last week, The College of New Jersey's women's soccer team demonstrated why they are the three-time defending New
Jersey Athletic Conference champions and winners of 12-of-14 league titles overall, as the Lions defeated New Jersey City University, 10-0, in an NJAC women's soccer game Saturday at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
TCNJ, which was ranked #1 in the nation just two weeks ago, actually came into the game unranked after a loss and tie in conference play, but with the win improves to 38-1-2 in its last 41 NJAC games and 7-2-1 (3-1-1 NJAC) in 2008. NJCU (6-5-0, 0-5-0 NJAC) loses its fifth straight game after a perfect start. TCNJ leads the all-time series, 14-0.
TCNJ outshot NJCU 37-6, including 21-4 in the second half when the Lions scored six times after taking a 4-0 margin to the half.
Three TCNJ players scored multiple goals, led by a hat trick from senior midfielder Allie Schilling (Somerdale, NJ/Triton), who scored her first three goals of the season. She tallied the game-winner, with the first, second and sixth goals of the game.
The Lions got two goals from senior midfielder Erin Cunliffe (Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) off the bench, her fifth and sixth of the year, as she collected the third and ninth goals of the game.
TCNJ's only two unassisted goals both came from senior defender Laura Delaney (River Vale, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy), who scored the seventh and 10th goals for the Lions on free kicks outside the box, for her fourth and fifth netters of the year. She added an assist for a five-point effort.
Senior forward Jamie Kunkel (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) had the fifth goal of the game—her fifth of the year—adding assists on goals one and three, for a four-point day,
The Lions also received single goals from junior midfielder Momoko Aoe (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ/Northern Highlands) and sophomore forward Casey Caruso (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick).
Senior defender Jillian Casey (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional), sophomore forward Julianne Delorenzo (Yardville, NJ/Pennington Prep), sophomore goalkeeper Katie Piotrowski (Rahway, NJ/Union Catholic), sophomore defender Brianna Brennan (Marlton, NJ/Holy Cross) and freshman forward Rosie Rarich (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley) each contributed single assists.

DANIELLE BARKER (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) made six stops, allowing two goals, in 26:04 in net. NJCU also had a team save from sophomore defender
CAROLINA GARCIA (Plainfield, NJ/Franklin).
Three TCNJ keepers combined for the shutout. Junior Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) did not make a stop in 35:11, before being relieved by Piotrowski, who made one save and also earned an assist when her long punt led to a goal.

Amy Hashem (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South), playing the final 34:51, stopped two back-to-back shots from NJCU sophomore striker
JENNIFER ALBUJA (Union City, NJ/Hoboken), the Division III national leader in points per game, including a penalty kick at 58:17 to preserve the shutout.
Albuja had four of NJCU's six shots.
NJCU is back in action on Wednesday, October 8 at 7 p.m. when it meets Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham in a non-conference game in Madison, NJ. The Lions host Stevens Institute of Technology that evening at 7:30 p.m.
