JERSEY CITY, NJ…New York University received game-highs of 15 rebounds and 14 points in only 20 minutes from All-American senior forward

New Jersey City University to a .197 shooting percentage en route to a 72-32 non-conference victory over the Gothic Knights on Tuesday night on Charlie Brown Court at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center.
NYU remains unbeaten at 2-0 and leads the all-time series, 7-2. It was the third straight year the two schools have squared off. NJCU (0-2) drops its fifth straight since last season.
NYU held a six-point, 19-13 lead with 8:33 left in the first half before outscoring NJCU 18-4 to close the period, and owned a 38-17 lead at the intermission. NJCU did not score its first field goal or points in the second half until 10:28 remained, as the Violets forced the Knights to miss their first 12 shots and four free throws. NYU expanded its lead to 54-17 at 11:11 of the second half for a 34-4 spurt over a span of 18:05. The Violets increased the margin to 64-20 off a 45-7 scoring streak, and led by as many as 45 before prevailing.
McEntee led a scoring offense in which 13 of 15 Violets who played scored and eight had at least five points. She shot 5-of-11 overall and 2-of-4 from three-point range, adding 11 of her 15 rebounds on defense, with three assists and two blocks.
Sophomore center Christine Kilmurray (Wall, NJ/Wall) had eight points (4-8 FG), seven rebounds and four blocks. Senior guard Sarah McDevitt (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) added eight points, including 2-of-4 from three-point territory. Senior center Megan Fox (Skillman, NJ/Montgomery) grabbed eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Olivia Tromm (Beach Haven, NJ/Southern Regional) finished with seven points while junior guard Hailey Kimball (North Berwick, ME/Noble) chipped in six points and four assists.

NYU, which never trailed, shot .426 overall (29-68) and made six three-pointers. NJCU was 12-of-61 from the field, 2-of-9 from three-point range (.222) and .375 from the line (6-16). NYU, which outscored NJCU in the paint, 42-16 and in bench scoring, 44-14, had a 58-37 rebounding edge, including 40-24 on the defensive glass.
NJCU returns to action on Saturday, November 22 at 4 p.m. when it hosts UMASS-Boston in the Gothic Knight Tip-Off Tournament, preceded by Stevens Institute of Technology and USMMA at 2 p.m. NYU hosts its own Tip-Off Tournament beginning on Friday, November 21 at 6 p.m. against FDU-Florham.
