JACQUELINE LeBLANC (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) floored 15 kills and hit .462 to increase her career total to 1,143 and climbed into a tie for second place in school history as
New Jersey City University defeated York College (NY), 3-0—25-6, 25-10, 25-9—in a non-conference match Wednesday night at the York College Gymnasium.
NJCU (2-3) wins its second consecutive match and defeats York for the ninth consecutive meeting in a series the Gothic Knights lead 10-1. York is 0-5 this season.
LeBlanc, this week's New Jersey Athletic Conference and Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Player of the Week, hit .472 with 15 kills and only three errors in 26 attempts to equal former NJCU middle hitter Melissa Pablos (2000-03, 1,143 kills) for second place in program history in less than three full seasons of play.
As a team, NJCU hit .446 with 38 kills and only nine errors in 65 attempts behind the setting of sophomore #ALEX JOHANESEN# (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), who dished 32 assists, while landing three service aces.

JENNIFER CARVALHO (Rahway, NJ/Rahway) chalked up nine kills and a .429 percentage (9-3-14) while junior middle blocker
JENNIFER HATCH (Paterson, NJ/Mary Help of Christians Academy) continues to contribute, posting a .636 percentage with eight kills and one error (8-1-11). Senior middle blocker
SARAH TORRES (Elizabeth, NJ/Science) had four kills.
A pair of NJCU freshmen defensive specialists had good
performances as well. TABITHA JORDAN (Bayonne, NJ/Memorial) had eight digs and four serve aces while KIARA MARTINEZ (Newark, NJ/East Side) added eight digs. Senior libero LYANELLY NEGRON (Union, NJ/Union) landed three aces. York hit -.056 as a team with eight kills and 11 errors, and defended only 12 digs.
NJCU will be right back in action on Thursday, September 11 at 6 p.m. in a non-conference match against Hunter College in New York, NY.
