BROOKLYN, NY…Freshman middle blocker DANNY KOCHANSKI (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) collected a team-high 10 kills while freshman middle blocker AUSTIN BRYANT (Virginia Beach, VA/Kempsville) pounded out a .417 attack percentage with seven kills and four blocks as New Jersey City University improved to 17-0 all-time against Brooklyn College, defeating the Bridges, 3-1 (26-30, 30-24, 30-18, 30-22) in a non-divisional men's volleyball match on Tuesday night.

NJCU improves to 11-6, while defeating Brooklyn (2-8) for the second time this season. NJCU started six reserves in the opening set, before moving around the lineup to allow all 12 players who dressed to see considerable time in the match. NJCU served 15 aces as a team.

Kochanski
hit .286 with 10 kills (10-4-21) and two aces while Bryant landed seven winners for a line of 7-2-12, with four blocks and two aces.

Freshman outside hitter KENNY LISK (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) collected nine kills (9-4-27) and 12 digs while sophomore outside hitter MARLEY PENA-GUZMAN (Atlanta, GA/Central Gwinnett (GA)) amassed a .400 percentage on eight kills (8-2-15), six assists and two aces.

Sophomore JUSTIN BEAUMONT (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) finished with 12 assists, six kills (6-1-13, .395) and four aces. Sophomore setter JORGE RODRIGUEZ (Havana, Cuba/Memorial) dished 21 assists. Sophomore libero CHRIS EDRA (Edison, NJ/JP Stevens) defended eight digs.

Brooklyn was led by senior outside hitter Kwan Tong Ma (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) with a match-high 17 kills (17-13-48, .083), 10 digs and five of the Bridges' 11 aces. Sophomore outside hitter David Choy (Brooklyn, NY/Telecommunications) had eight kills (8-2-21, .286) and three aces while senior setter David Mayerson (North Woodmere, NY/Lawrence) tallied 33 assists, 12 digs and four blocks.

After its reserves hit negative in the opening set (10-11-37, -.027), NJCU responded with more of its starters in the lineup in the second game, winning by six with 16 kills and a team percentage of .303 (16-6-33). NJCU opened a 24-13 advantage in the third set, winning by 12, before posting a team percentage of .378 with 18 kills (18-4-37) in the final set, putting the match away, 30-22.

NJCU will compete in a tri-match in Stevenson, MD on Saturday, February 21, meeting Hilbert College at 12 p.m. in a neutral-site contest, before taking on Stevenson University for the second time this year. The Mustangs swept NJCU during the Gothic Knight Invitational on February 7.
