VIDEO HIGHLIGHT: LACEY SKOWRONSKI Homerun 2.mpg">LACEY SKOWRONSKI HOMERUN #2
JERSEY CITY, NJ… Senior right-hander ANDREA DELUCREZIA (Belleville, NJ/St. Mary's-Rutherford) tossed the seventh no-hitter in the 29-year history of the New Jersey City University softball program while senior designated player/right-handed pitcher LACEY SKOWRONSKI (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) uncorked a pair of homeruns while firing a two-hit shutout in the nightcap, as the Gothic Knights swept a non-conference doubleheader from Brooklyn College, 12-0 and 17-0, on Friday at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex. Both games ended after five innings due to the eight-run rule.
Delucrezia, who also made history by notching her 250th career strikeout, became the fifth different pitcher to throw a no-hitter in program history and the first since March 13, 2007.
NJCU won its fifth consecutive game after an 0-5 start to even its record at 5-5. Brooklyn falls to 1-3. It was the first meeting between the schools in nearly 25 years, with the schools last playing in Brooklyn on April 26, 1984. The all-time series is now even, 2-2.
