POMONA, NJ…
Richard Stockton College scored twice in the fourth inning of game one to break up a 1-1 tie before scoring seven runs in the opening inning of game two, as the Ospreys swept a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader from the Gothic Knights, 4-1 and 13-2 in five innings, on April 18.

Stockton improved to 23-10 overall and 6-7 in the league and leads the all-time series, 46-7, avenging a sweep by NJCU (14-18, 4-10 NJAC) last year in Jersey City that knocked the Ospreys out of the conference tournament.

Senior pitcher LACEY SKOWRONSKI (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) took the loss (8-9). In 6.0 innings, she was charged with four runs and nine hits, while walking four and fanning one.

With the game knotted at 1-1, Shetter stroked a key two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the fourth to give Stockton a 3-1 advantage. Osprey shortstop Samantha Horner (Newfield, NJ/Buena) singled and scored a run in the fifth frame of the 4-1 triumph.

Ospreys starting pitcher Jamie Gasko (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) tossed a four-hitter with seven strikeouts versus two walks for the Ospreys to improve to 7-5. Senior righty ANDREA DELUCREZIA (Belleville, NJ/St. Mary's-Rutherford) took the loss (6-9). In 3.0 innings she allowed three earned runs and six hits with one walk. Skowronski pitched the final two innings, allowing four earned runs and six hits, with one strikeout and three walks.

Horner and Afflitto each posted two-run doubles as Stockton sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven runs in the first inning. Connell doubled in two runs in the second inning for a 9-0 lead. The Ospreys added three more runs in the third inning, including an RBI double by Shetter and an RBI single by Roma. NJCU got on the board in the fourth when Perrucci stroked an RBI single and Hall scored on a passed ball, but Stockton added one more run in the fifth inning.
