JERSEY CITY
, NJIt truly was a Senior Day to remember. New Jersey City University defeated the defending New Jersey Athletic Conference champions, Montclair State University, 3-2, scoring the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning in game two, as NJCU ended the 2009 season with a 3-2 victory over Montclair in an NJAC doubleheader at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex. MSU won the opening game, 2-0.

NJCU ends the 2009 season with a 16-22 mark and 5-13 in the NJAC. MSU (23-15, 9-9 NJAC) did clinch the sixth and final berth in the NJAC Tournament by winning game one. It was the first home victory ever for NJCU against MSU and snapped the Hawks 14-game winning streak in the series, dating to a Gothic Knight 8-6 win in Little Falls, NJ on April 17, 2001. MSU leads the all-time series, 22-2.

Prior to the doubleheader, NJCU honored its three seniors—right-hander ANDREA DELUCREZIA (Belleville, NJ/St. Mary's-Rutherford), third baseman CHRISTEN HALL (East Rutherford, NJ/Becton Regional) and pitcher/designated player LACEY SKOWRONSKI (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy).

Sophomore second baseman DANIELLE DELFINO (Jersey City, NJ/County Prep)  had two stolen bases in game two, giving her 25 on the season in 29 tries. Freshman shortstop MEGAN GINTER (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) swiped her 20th base of the year in 22 chances.
