POINT PLEASANT, NJ (www.NJCUGothicKnights.com)…For four years,
outside hitter JACQUELINE LeBLANC (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) and libero LYANELLY NEGRON (Union, NJ/Union) were key components to a New Jersey City University women's volleyball program which went a combined 101-33 overall and 27-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while capturing the 2005 NJAC championship and 2006 ECAC Division III South crowns.
Now, the tandem has found success on the beach volleyball scene. On August 1, LeBlanc and Negron, both co-captains for NJCU as seniors in 2008, teamed up for only the second time on the sand and went a combined 10-0 to win the 'A' level championship of the Great American Volleyball 'Summer Sizzler' Tournament in Point Pleasant.
LeBlanc and Negron won their pool with an 8-0 record. In the semifinals, they defeated the team of Edna Cetina and Kristi Kinsey. In the finals, they defeated a pair of Division I players, knocking off the team of Taylor Dressing and Emily Sawanabori. Dressing plays for the University of New Hampshire while Sawanabori suits up for Bucknell University.
