New Jersey City University led 61-52—a 29-point margin with 15:38 remaining, but could not hold off the athleticism of Medgar Evers College as the Cougars made a furious rally in the middle of the second half, and stunned the Gothic Knights, 77-74, in a non-conference game on Monday night.

Junior center JOSH HOSANG (Hackensack, NJ/Palm Beach Central (Fla.)) scored 15 for the Knights and senior shooting guard DA'SHON BARRINO (East Orange, NJ/Malcolm X. Shabazz) added 14.

Medgar Evers junior guard James Gilmore (Brooklyn, NY) led all scorers with 31 points—including 19 in the second half, while sophomore forwards Winston Douglas (Hempstead, NY) and Jovan Deare (Brooklyn, NY) tallied 15 points each.

NJCU falls to 1-2 overall, suffering its first-ever loss to the Cougars (2-2) in five meetings, as the schools were squaring off for the first time since December 2003—and in Brooklyn for the first time since December 21, 2002.

While the largest lead in an eventual loss in school history is not known, the 32-point swing between NJCU's largest lead and the final margin was the most since February 15, 2007. In that game, NJCU led Lincoln University by 22 points in the second half before losing by three.
