- Ebony Cunningham netted her seventh career 20-point outing as NJCU made sure the Bloodhounds lost their scent from the opening tip.

JERSEY CITY, NJ (www.NJCUGothicKnights.com)...Sophomore guard EBONY CUNNINGHAM (East Orange, NJ/East Orange Campus) netted her fourth 20-point effort of the season, finishing with 22 markers and freshman point guard LATIFAH JOHNSON (Newark, NJ/University) added 16 points as New Jersey City University led by as many as 35 points and disposed of John Jay College, 77-53, in a non-conference women's basketball game on Monday night at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center on “Coach Charlie Brown Court.”
 
NJCU (5-14), which never trailed, snapped a three-game losing streak as all nine players in uniform scored and had a rebound, while eight provided an assist. John Jay (0-20) dropped its 21st straight game dating to last year. NJCU leads the all-time series, 8-5 and snapped the Bloodhounds three-game winning streak in the series.
 
In defeat, junior guard Dominique Grice (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) had a game-high 29 points (9-23 FG, 11-14 FT), with six rebounds and four steals, despite 11 turnovers, in 38 minutes.
 
Cunningham notched her seventh career game of at least 20 points and fourth this season as she led the Knights with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting, 3-of-7 from three-point distance, and 5-of-6 from the line, adding five rebounds, in just 20 minutes off the bench.

and two assists, despite eight giveaways, in 28 minutes.
 
Freshman point guard ASHLEY FREEMAN (Paterson, NJ/Passaic Tech) had nine points and eight rebounds while freshman guard PRIA DUHANEY (Union, NJ/Orange) finished with seven points (4-7 FG), six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
 
Also for NJCU, freshman forward MAXINE KAMINSKI (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) had eight points and six rebounds. Freshman forward LINDIA FISCHER (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) had eight points and junior guard MIESHA COOKE (Paterson, NJ/Sports Business Academy) provided six assists.
 
John Jay also received 12 points (4-11 FG) and six rebounds from junior guard Jessica Lirio (Bronx, NY/Barnabas). The Bloodhounds shot 31.6 overall (18-57) and 73.9 percent from the line (17-23) but were 0-for-9 from three-point range.
 
NJCU shot 42.3 percent overall (30-71) and made six threes. The Gothic Knight bench provided a 29-2 scoring punch.
 
The Knights scored 10 of the first 12 points of the game in the opening 5:19, as Johnson and Cunningham each had early triples. After JJC drew within three, 15-11, the Knights uncorked a 14-2 run to seize a 29-13 margin with 4:31 left in the first half after consecutive jumpers by Kaminski. NJCU led by 15 at the half, 34-19, and were never challenged again.
 
The lead grew to 20 with 13:30 remaining in the second half on a triple by Cunningham, and expanded to 30 (66-36) when Kaminski sank a shot with 7:53 to go. The largest lead was 35, 73-38, with 6:15 left, when Fischer scored off a Duhaney feed.
 
NJCU's 24-point margin of victory was its largest since a 63-39 win over New York City College of Technology on January 12, 2009. The Knights had assists on 16 of 30 field goals; John Jay earned just one assist on 18 buckets.
 
NJCU will return to action on Wednesday, February 3 at 7 p.m. in a non-conference game at Drew University in Madison, NJ—a make-up from a snow postponement on December 19. John Jay visits Lehman College that night at 7:15 p.m. in CUNYAC action.
