FORT MYERS, FL (www.NJCUGothicKnights.com)...
For the first time in the 29-year history of the New Jersey City University softball team, the Gothic Knights have started a season 5-1, and the play of freshman third baseman REBECCA SATZ (Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown) on Wednesday can largely be attributed to that historical achievement. Satz was a combined 4-for-7 with five RBIs, three runs, a double and homerun in two games as the Gothic Knights swept a doubleheader at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic. NJCU put five runs on the board in the first two frames against Anna Maria College in game one, before prevailing, 10-2, in five innings. In the nightcap, NJCU scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to overcome a 3-2 deficit, and edged Carroll University, 4-3.
