Junior second baseman DANIELLE DELFINO (Jersey City, NJ/County Prep)'s infield single in the bottom of the eighth inning was the difference and promising rookie right-hander ASHLEY O'BEIRNE (Wood-Ridge, NJ/Immaculate Conception) struck out seven and did not allow an earned run as New Jersey City University won its 2010 season opener with a 3-2, eight-inning decision over Wartburg College (Iowa) on Monday at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic played at the Lee County Sports Complex. In game two, Ohio Wesleyan University defeated the Knights in five innings, 12-1.
