JERSEY CITY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University outshot Rutgers-Newark 21-17, including 14-6 in the second half, but suffered its sixth loss by one goal this season, dropping a 1-0 decision to the host Scarlet Raiders in New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday night at Alumni Field.
The Raiders improved to 10-5 overall and 3-2 in the league. NJCU (3-9-1, 0-4-0 NJAC) dropped its sixth game in a row and third by a one-goal margin. Five of NJCU's last six losses have been by one goal.
Newark leads the all-time series, 18-17-2, although NJCU is 10-3-1 in the last 14 meetings. However, it was the second year in a row that NJCU outshot Rutgers-Newark but failed to score. The Gothic Knights have lost five times this year when outshooting an opponent.

Patrick Dawidczyk (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) collected a loose ball in the middle of the box and fed it outside to junior midfielder
Nick Kyprianou (Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) who stuck a low shot from the right corner of the 18 inside the near post for his fifth goal of the year.
In a game where each squad had a number of quality scoring chances, senior keeper
MANNY LOJO (Clark, NJ/Union Catholic) finished with three saves for NJCU while junior
Jonathan Frances (Chandler, AZ/Hamilton) made six saves for his fifth shutout of the season for the hosts.
