CAMDEN EARNS NJAC SWEEP OVER GOTHIC KNIGHTS

Rutgers University-Camden had a 44-15 advantage in kills and swept a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's volleyball match from New Jersey City University, 25-19, 25-19, 25-13, on Thursday at the Camden Fitness Center.
 
Camden improved to 12-14 overall and 3-3 in the NJAC. NJCU was eliminated from NJAC Tournament contention with the loss, falling to 5-15 (0-6 NJAC). NJCU leads the all-time series, 15-3, but the Scarlet Raptors have won the last three meetings.
 
In defeat, rookie middle blocker JADE MEDLEY (Newark, NJ/Hudson Catholic) had a team-best five kills and a match-high three blocks (two solo) and senior outside hitter MICHELLE RAYO (Jersey City, NJ/County Prep) finished with 11 digs and four kills.
 
Freshman setter CINDY GARCIA (West New York, NJ/Memorial) provided 10 assists and nine digs. Senior libero AMANDA DOPICO (West New York, NJ/Memorial) defended 12 digs. Junior outside hitter BRITTANY EREZUMA (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) had 10 digs, three kills and one block and freshman middle hitter INDIGO HATCHER (Jersey City, NJ/Lincoln) had three kills and two blocks.
 
NJCU two captains, senior TABITHA JORDAN (West New York, NJ/Memorial) and junior KIARA MARTINEZ (Newark, NJ/East Side), did not play.
 
Camden hit .244 as a team and limited NJCU to a .048 attack percentage with excellent defense, led by junior libero Catherine Tedeja (Cherry Hill, NJ) with a match-high 22 digs. Junior setter Stephanie Miller (Cherry Hill, NJ) dished 33 assists and nine digs.
 
Offensively, the Raptors received a .318 percentage with eight kills (8-1-22) from sophomore 6-foot-2 middle hitter Morgan Halbruner (Voorhees, NJ). Freshman opposite Elizabeth Idler (Moorestown, NJ) landed a match-high nine kills and hit .286 (9-3-21). Junior outside hitter Olivia Murphy (Somerdale, NJ) had seven kills and nine digs while senior outside hitter Rebecca Brown (Cherry Hill, NJ) hit .278 without an error, landing five kills.
 
Camden had 15 kills in the first set and hit .239, before flooring 18 winners and hitting .244 in the second set. Camden finished with 11 winners in the final game.
