RAMAPO SWEEPS NJCU IN OPENING MATCH OF CCNY QUAD

- Jade Medley had seven of NJCU's 18 kills.

Ramapo College hit .260 and swept a non-conference match from New Jersey City University, 3-0 (25-22, 25-7, 25-12) in the opening contest of the City College of New York Quad Match on Saturday at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.
 
Ramapo improved to 21-4 while NJCU dropped to 5-16 in the second meeting of the season between the New Jersey Athletic Conference opponents. Ramapo leads the all-time series, 22-7 although NJCU has won eight of the last 13 meetings.
 
In defeat, rookie middle blocker JADE MEDLEY (Newark, NJ/Hudson Catholic) was errorless, smacking seven of NJCU's 18 total kills, on 25 attacks, for a .280 percentage. She added one solo block.
 
Freshman setter CINDY GARCIA (West New York, NJ/Memorial) provided 16 assists and eight digs. Senior libero AMANDA DOPICO (West New York, NJ/Memorial) finished with 13 digs while senior outside hitter TABITHA JORDAN (West New York, NJ/Memorial) defended 12 digs and three service aces. Junior outside hitter KIARA MARTINEZ (Newark, NJ/East Side) contributed 10 digs and four kills. Junior opposite BRITTANY EREZUMA (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) landed three kills without an error and hit .375.
 
Ramapo, which extended its winning streak to 16 with three wins at the CCNY Quad, was led by junior outside hitter Julia Tuzio (Paramus, NJ/Paramus), who hit .280 and landed a match-high 10 kills (10-3-25) with six digs and two aces. Freshman outside hitter Deandra Black (Westfield, NJ/East Brunswick) hit .368 with nine kills (9-2-19) and two blocks.
 
Also for the Roadrunners, senior setter Tiffany Fischer (Woodcliff Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) had a double-double of 24 assists and 10 digs and senior libero Elizabeth Steck (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) delivered 18 digs. Freshman outside hitter Brittney Jemas (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) hit .261 with eight kills. Senior outside hitter Allison DiAngelo (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) had three blocks.
 
Ramapo tallied 16 kills in the opening set but NJCU led 12-9 before Ramapo uncorked an 8-0 run to build a 17-12 margin as DiAngelo had three kills during that spurt. Ramapo never trailed again in the remainder of the match, hitting .300 as a team (10-1-30) in the second set and .310 (13-4-29) in the third period. RCNJ had 10 aces in the contest.
