JERSEY CITY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University outshot John Jay College, 53-0, and scored four goals in each period, reaching double figures in victories for the third consecutive season with an 8-0 shutout in a non-conference game on Tuesday at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
With the win, NJCU improved to 10-2. It's the third time in the 19-year history of the program the Knights have reached double figures in wins. John Jay (4-8) dropped its fourth straight. It was the first meeting between the schools in women's soccer. NJCU held a 10-0 cushion in corner kicks.
Six players contributed to multiple goals for the Gothic Knights, led by senior striker
JULIA CASERES (Union, NJ/Union), who scored twice, including the 90
th goal of her career, and freshman midfielder
AMANDA FILIPPONE (Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearley), who chalked up her first two collegiate goals.
Caseres netted her 11

th career point while senior striker
JENNIFER ALBUJA (Union City, NJ/Hoboken) added one goal and one assist to increase her career scoring totals to 81 goals, 15 assists
and 177 points, the two forwards have now combined for 397 career points.

ISLEY PEREZ (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) and junior midfielder
ANGELICA GLOVER (Union, NJ/Union Catholic) each netted a goal and an assist while sophomore center midfielder
BRIANNA TAYLOR (Linden, NJ/Linden) added two assists on the first two goals of the game.

John Jay sophomore
Marcelina Kopec (Staten Island) made 11 saves under heavy pressure and the Bloodhounds had three defensive team saves, including two balls cleared off the line. John Jay was shutout for the seventh time this season and the fourth game in a row (394:48 scoreless).
NJCU opened the scoring with two goals in a span of 47 seconds in the seventh and eighth minutes. At 6:31,
Caseres extended her school career record with her 17
th game-winning goal as she headed home her first goal inside the left post off a cross from the right by
Taylor, who contributed her sixth and seventh assists of the season in the game.
Just 47 seconds later,
Albuja collected her 15
th goal of the season, directing a header from deep in the box over the opposing keeper off a corner kick from
Taylor from the right side.
Just over seven minutes later,
Caseres made it 3-0 with a top shelf header on the near left post off a right endline cross from
Albuja at 14:33.
NJCU, which had 23 shots in the first half, made it 4-0 at 31:47 as
Reyes-Abril slipped a thru ball from the middle of the field onto the feet of
Perez, who blasted home her second goal of the season inside to the top right 90. The assist was the third for
Reyes-Abril and NJCU led 4-0 at halftime.
NJCU had 30 shots in the second half and scored its second goal of the game off a corner kick at the 56:23 mark.
Glover, who notched her first assist as a Gothic Knight, lofted a corner from the right endline and
Casale leaped in the middle of the box, heading home her first career goal from about 10 yards.
Filippone scored the first two goals of her career in a span of 1:47 in the 66
th and 68
th minutes. At 65:39,
Sciortino dished a thru ball up the middle to
Filippone who split two defenders and buried a shot into the bottom right from the left wing. The assist was the second for
Sciortino. Then at 67:26,
Perez unleashed a beautiful cross the right endline, and
Filippone uncorked a header into the left side of the target.
NJCU capped the scoring at 76:56 as
Glover knocked in the rebound of her own blocked shot in the middle of the box, for her third marker of the season.
NJCU returns to action on Thursday, October 6 at 7 p.m. in a non-conference game against Mount Saint Mary College (NY) in Newburgh, NY. John Jay is home to the City College of New York on October 8 at 12 p.m.
