AMANFO ASSIBU (Bronx, NY/Sheepshead Bay) scored his first two goals and four points as a Gothic Knight, including a 74
th minute marker than made it a one-goal game, but
New Jersey City University was unable to net the equalizer and fell to Rowan University, 3-2, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer game on Saturday night at the Rowan Soccer Field.
Rowan improves to 6-4-2 with the win and evens its NJAC mark at 2-2-1. The Gothic Knights fall to 3-7-1 (0-3-0 NJAC) with its fourth straight loss. Rowan leads the all-time series, 34-15-4. Rowan held a 14-12 edge in shots.
Assibu, playing in just his sixth game in an NJCU uniform, initially put the Knights in front early in the first half before the Profs scored three consecutive goals for a 3-1 halftime cushion.
Senior forward
WALTER AVANS (Roselle Park, NJ/Union Catholic) and senior midfielder
TOM KRYCHKOWSKI (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington) each provided one assist. . The assist for
Avans was his team-best fifth of the year and 79
th point of his career—one shy of
Edison Bilbao for fourth place in school history (80 points, 2005-08).

Assibu for a breakaway in front of the net, before finishing a shot into the lower right side.
Kohler netted his third goal of the season less than five minutes later, tying it at the 10:09 mark. He received a cross from
Berrios before depositing a one-timer into the lower left corner.
Rowan gained a 2-1 margin in the 23
rd minute and a 3-1 advantage in the 29

Lojo in a 1-on-1 in the box, scoring his fifth goal of the year into the open net. At the 28:38 mark,
Mangone took a free kick that set up
Dooley for a shot into the upper left corner for his first goal of the year.
NJCU made it a one-goal game at the 73:15 mark as
Krychkowski made a cross into the box where
Assibu one-timed a shot into the left corner. The helper was
Krychkowski's second of the season.
Lojo made a great save on a
Dooley header with seven minutes left to keep it a one-goal game.
Assibu had an 84
th minute shot blocked as the Knights attempted to rally late but NJCU was unable to get off another shot in the final minutes. Eight of NJCU's 12 shots came in the second half.
NJCU is back in action on Monday, October 10 at 4 p.m. in a non-conference game at John Jay College in Maspeth, NY.
