JERSEY CITY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Rain outs in the winter, snow outs in the spring. Three days into the spring portion of the calendar, New Jersey City University's baseball and softball teams had home games whited out on their schedules for Wednesday, March 23. For the second week in a row, NJCU's 2011 baseball home opener, this time a 3:30 p.m. contest against the College of Staten Island was postponed—the third game postponed or canceled because of weather this season. Meanwhile, NJCU's non-conference doubleheader versus the College of Mount Saint Vincent, scheduled for 4 p.m., was also postponed.
The softball doubleheader has been rescheduled for Monday, March 28 at 4 p.m. at home. The baseball game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. but will now be a road game at Staten Island, NY.
Weather-permitting, NJCU will return to action in baseball on Friday, March 25 at 3:30 p.m. at Neumann University in Glens Mills, PA, before hosting St. Joseph's College of Maine in a two-day, three-game home series at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex on Saturday and Sunday, March 26 and 27, in what will now become the Gothic Knights' 2011 home opener.
Softball is scheduled to return to action on home on Saturday, March 26 in a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Stevens Institute of Technology.
