The first four players in the lineup for NJCU (2-3) batted a combined 9-for-18 and eight players had at least one hit in the game. NJCU combined for eight stolen bases in the contest. Elms dropped to 2-5.

NJCU was led by junior shortstop MEGAN GINTER (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) in a leadoff role. She was 3-for-5 with three runs and four stolen bases, adding a double.

For the Blazers, sophomore third baseman Rachel Butt (Agawam, MA) had two RBIs and senior right fielder Allison McBride (East Providence, RI) was 2-for-3. She was the lone Elms player with multiple hits. Senior pitcher Destinee Meeker (Bantam, CT) took the loss (1-3), allowing six earned runs and 16 hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Elms committed six errors in the game; NJCU had three.

NJCU jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the opening inning as all nine batted for the Knights. Ginter led off, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Satz. Bariso singled and an error loaded the bases before Lang drew a walk for the second run. Elms used a force at the plate for the second out. But Cardona came to the plate and she will long remember her first career at bat—a two-RBI single to center.

Elms scored twice in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by freshman designated player Hayley Zisk (Baldwinville, MA), before the second run came around on a fielding error.

NJCU increased its lead to 6-2 in the top of the second inning. Ginter led off with a double and Mucerino was hit by a pitch. With the wheels in motion, Mucerino and Ginter stole second and third, respectively, and Satz singled to load the bases. A sacrifice fly by Bariso brought in Ginter before an RBI groundout by senior second baseman DANIELLE DELFINO (Jersey City, NJ/County Prep) pushed Mucerino home. Elms got a run back in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Butt.

NJCU, which left 12 runners on base, stranded two in the third and fifth innings, but scored in the latter. With two outs, Perez singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI bunt single by Ginter. In the sixth inning, Bariso led off with a double and scored on an infield RBI single by Lang for an 8-3 margin.

Elms best chance to get back in the game came in the bottom of the sixth when it scored twice. After loading the bases, Butt was hit by a pitch, and sophomore catcher Sarah Buckley (Wilbraham, MA) walked, making it 8-5. With the bases still loaded, O'Beirne ended the threat with a ground ball back to the mound.

In the top of the seventh, NJCU again sent nine batters to the plate and scored three runs on three hits, taking advantage of three Elms errors. With Perez and Ginter on the bags, they combined for a double steal and both scored when Mucerino had an RBI single, followed by an error. Bariso picked up another RBI on a grounder that became an error for the 11th run and Elms was retired 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh to close the game.
