CINDY GARCIA (West New York, NJ/Memorial) defended 25 digs in a match for the second time this season, but the College of Saint Elizabeth committed 10 less attack errors than the Gothic Knights and defeated NJCU in women's volleyball for the first time in 22 years, winning 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-20) in the opening match of a non-conference tri on October 13 at St. Joseph Hall.
NJCU (5-15) had a 24-match winning streak against the Eagles (15-7) dating to the 1991 season snapped with the defeat. It was CSE's first win over NJCU since October 18, 1990. NJCU, which dropped its fourth match in a row, does lead the all-time series, 25-7.
Garcia, who matched her career high of 25 digs accomplished in a 3-0 loss to Ramapo College on September 27—fifth most for three sets in school history—has now reached double figures in digs 12 times this season and 25 times in two seasons as part of the program.
Erezuma had the second highest attack percentage of her career (.588 at Staten Island, 09/04/2012), hitting .500 with eight kills and no errors (16 swings), adding nine digs and two aces.

In the third set both teams had their best offensive efforts; NJCU tallied 14 kills with five players flooring at least two shots. But CSE hit an impressive .333 in the set with 13 kills and only two errors, led by
Katie Cooper's .500 percentage (5-0-10). There were four ties, but none after 5-5. CSE opened a 17-11 lead and held on to prevail by five, 25-20.
