New Jersey City University service aces and outlasted the Gothic Knights, 3-1 (25-23, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20) in a non-conference match played at Scandlon Gymnasium on October 19. It was the first-ever meeting between the schools in women's volleyball.
King's (7-16) won for the third time in four matches, finishing with twice as many kills (38) as attack errors (19) on 110 swings (.173). NJCU (7-18) dropped its third straight match.
Medley reached double figures in kills for the fifth time this season and 13
th time in her career while defending three more digs than her previous career best of 10 on October 7 vs. Bryn Athyn. She hit .250 (13-7-24) and added three blocks (two solo) and two aces.
Sophomore outside hitter
MARISSA SCARPA (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) also floored a career-high 12 kills and hit .139 (12-7-36) with seven digs and two aces. It was her third career double digit kills effort (all in 2012) and two more than her previous highs.
Sophomore libero
CINDY GARCIA (West New York, NJ/Memorial) reached the 20-dig plateau for the fifth time in her career (all in 2012), finishing with a match-best 20 digs with a pair of aces. She has 15 double-digit dig efforts this season and 28 in two seasons.

KIARA MARTINEZ (Newark, NJ/East Side) added 26 assists, eight digs and five aces and senior middle hitter
BRITTANY EREZUMA (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) tallied six kills with a .267 percentage (6-2-15).
Freshman
Alexa Nelson (Mastic, NY) led the Monarchs with a .450 attack percentage and 10 kills against one error (20 attempts) while freshman outside hitter
Elen O'Donnell (Shamokin, PA) equaled that total with 10 winners for a .217 rate (10-5-23). Sophomore setter
Mary Loughran (Kingston, PA) contributed 29 assists and seven digs.

King's had 11 kills in the first and fourth sets, hitting .214 and .259 respectively in those periods. NJCU had 10 kills in the third set when it extended the match.
NJCU will celebrate Senior Night on Tuesday, October 23 at 7 p.m. when it hosts College of Saint Elizabeth in a non-conference match at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center. It will be the second meeting of the year between the clubs; CSE prevailed, 3-0, on October 13 in Morristown, NJ. Prior to match, NJCU will honor its two four-year seniors,
