New Jersey City University, 3-0 (25-18, 25-7, 25-11) in the second contest of a non-conference tri-match, hosted by DVC at the James Work Gymnasium on September 15.
NJCU (3-3) dropped its third straight match after a 3-0 start to the season, and couldn't get into an offensive groove, committing 17 attack errors in 79 attempts for a -.063 performance. DVC (7-2), made just 12 errors in 93 swings. The Aggies lead the all-time series, 3-0. DVC dropped the opening match of the day to Cairn University in five sets before CU downed NJCU, 3-0, in the second match.
In defeat, sophomore middle blocker
JADE MEDLEY (Queens, NY/Hudson Catholic) accounted for most of the offense, hitting .357 with seven kills and only two errors in 14 attempts for the Gothic Knights. Outside of
Medley, the remainder of the roster had just five kills and hit -.154 (5-15-65).

CINDY GARCIA (West New York, NJ/Memorial) collected 11 assists and eight digs while senior setter/outside hitter
KIARA MARTINEZ (Newark, NJ/East Side) chipped in nine digs and four service aces. In all, 13 players saw action for NJCU.
The Aggies were paced by 6-foot-0 junior middle hitter
Janel Gluch (Hillsborough, NJ) who had more kills individually (15) then NJCU as a team and hit an impressive .464 with only two errors over 28 attempts. She added three blocks (two solo). Junior outside hitter
Alyssa Riggins (Elkton, MD) hit .348 with 10 kills (10-2-23).
Also for DVC, sophomore setter
Crystal Ronan (Springfield, VA) dished 40 assists and sophomore outside
Gina Page (West Mifflin, PA) hit .533 with nine kills and only one error (15 swings) while defending 10 digs and serving six of DVC's eight aces. Junior defensive specialist
Alex DeFrancesco (Oxford, CT) contributed 10 digs.
DVC had an 18-6 margin in kills in the opening set. NJCU held an early 14-6 lead before the Aggies took control, producing a 12-0 run behind 12 consecutive serves by
Page, to gain an 18-14 lead. The spurt swelled to 16-1 as DVC moved ahead 22-15 and won 25-18.
That was the closest NJCU came to winning a game, hitting in negative territory in the second and third sets with three kills in each period. Meanwhile, the Aggies had 11 and 14 kills, respectively in the next two games. Leading 10-6, DVC scored 15 of the final 16 points and 13 consecutive points to close out a 25-7 win. The hosts led from start to finish in the third set.
NJCU returns to the court on Tuesday, September 18 when it visits Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ for a 7 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference match.
