JERSEY CITY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com)
 | Two-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference junior goalkeeper Brittany Hoffman (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) stopped more than 20 shots in a game for the fourth time this season, making 21 saves under heavy pressure, but Richard Stockton College was too much for the New Jersey City University women's soccer team to overcome, losing 7-0 to the Ospreys in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on October 5 at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.

Stockton (9-4, 3-2 NJAC) shutout an opponent for the eighth in its nine victories this season while scoring a season-high in goals. The Ospreys outshot NJCU, 53-1, putting 28 of those attempts on goal. Stockton also had a 13-1 advantage over NJCU (1-7-1, 0-5-0 NJAC, Lost 6) in corner kicks. The Ospreys were whistled for 16 offsides.

Hoffman's 21 saves matched her second highest career total, as she smothered numerous breakaway chances. She reached double figures in saves for the 17th time in her career and fifth consecutive game. She made 11 saves in the first half.

After being frustrated by Hoffman throughout much of the first half, Stockton took control of the game with two goals in a span of 19 seconds in the 31st minute and three goals in 2:11 to seize a 3-0 lead.

Stockton got a hat trick from junior forward Lexi Stasi (Cranbury, NJ/Princeton), who came off the bench to score her third, fourth and fifth goals of the season and assisted on the second goal of the game to finish with seven points. She netted the first goal at 30:18 and the third at 32:39 before adding the final goal at 85:53. She played 24 minutes of action.

Freshman midfielder Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had a goal and an assist—scoring her fourth marker of the year at 30:37 before assisting on the seventh goal.

Stasi put the guests on the board when she received a pass on the far right wing and put a shot from 12 yards out just inside the near left post. Had she missed, Stockton had an unmarked player on the post ready to knock it in. Just 19 seconds later a defensive breakout made it 2-0 when Stasi slipped a ball from the right onto the left post for an easy tap-in open-net look for Boucher. Stasi's second goal came off a breakaway pass down the center of the box, which allowed her to side-step a diving Hoffman and shoot into the open net.

Senior forward Jacque Becker (Hamilton Township, NJ/Steinert) scored her second goal of the year 3:32 into the second half for a 4-0 lead. Senior back Lauren Denny (Durham, NC/Jordan) and senior midfielder Amanda Magana (Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek) each contributed their first goals of the season, scoring in the 57th and 76th minutes, respectively.

Stockton also received single assists in the contest from freshman forward Taylor Nichols (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights), senior back Leah Braidi (Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart) and senior forward Jessica Balnis (Dorothy, NJ/Buena). Stockton hit the crossbar three times in the 39th, 43rd and 72nd minutes.

Three Stockton keepers combined to register the shutout without facing a shot on goal. Senior Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill, NJ/Paul VI) played the first 45 minutes before senior Cara Parliament (Manchester, NJ/Manchester Township) and junior Lauren Haynes (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) split the second half with 22:31 and 22:29, respectively.

NJCU is back in action on Wednesday, October 9 at 3 p.m.  when it hosts Purchase College in a non-conference home game.
