New Jersey City University led by 12 points with 15 minutes remaining, but SUNY Old Westbury shot 62 percent in the second half and scored the final 12 points of the game while holding the Gothic Knights scoreless in the last 5:24 as the Panthers ousted NJCU, 65-52, in the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Tournament Semifinals on March 2 at the Stockton Sports Center.
NJCU's 80
th season of intercollegiate men's basketball ends with a mark of 15-13 as the sixth-seeded Gothic Knights lose to Old Westbury (24-4) for the first time in five all-time meetings. OW, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, set a single-season school record for wins while advancing to face top-seeded at host Richard Stockton College—67-53 winners over fifth-seeded John Jay College in the other semifinal—in Sunday's ECAC title game.
The Knights shot 29 percent in the second half (9-31) and just 32.3 percent for the game (21-65) while making 2-of-15 from three-point range. While NJCU's nationally No. 10 ranked scoring defense did limit Old Westbury to its second lowest scoring total of the season and the fewest points in a win this season, the Panthers did shoot 52.3 percent overall (23-44) and 61.9 percent in the second period (13-21). The 65 points by OW were the fewest since netting 63 in a season-opening loss to Salisbury University on November 16.
NJCU led by three at halftime and 39-27 with 15:26 remaining before OW used a 14-2 run over a span of 4:46 to tie the game at 41-41. OW outscored NJCU in the second half, 42-26.
In defeat, NJCU accomplished a single-season team record for lowest scoring defense, finished the season allowing just 58.3 points per game—smashing the mark of 58.7 points per game set nearly 50 years ago in 1963-64.

Marley hit a jumper with 15:26 to play for a 39-27 cushion that gave the Knights a sizzling 25-4 scoring differential over a span of 12:29.
