BEAUMONT DISHES DOUBLE-DOUBLE IN SWEEP OF WELLS

- Justin Beaumont's fourth double-double of the season sparked NJCU to its fourth straight win.

| New Jersey City University senior setter JUSTIN BEAUMONT (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) registered his 21st career double-double and NJCU limited Wells College to a -.167 attack percentage in a 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-17) sweep in the second match of the York College Tournament on March 9.
 
NJCU (13-7) won its fourth straight match and had a 28-12 advantage in kills in its first-ever meeting with Wells (8-9).
 
Beaumont delivered 18 assists and 12 digs, for his fourth double-double of the season and added six kills in 10 attempts (one error) for a .500 attack rate.
 
Sophomore middle blocker IVAN PRENSA (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) floored a match-high eight kills and hit .267 (8-4-15) with three blocks and three aces and freshman middle blocker DAQUE WILCOX (Camden, NJ/Camden County Tech) provided five kills (5-2-11, .273), two aces and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter BESMIR ARSLANI (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) collected six kills and uncorked five service aces. No player for Wells had more than four kills
 
NJCU never trailed in the opening game, opening advantages of 12-4 and 16-7, despite hitting -.067 in the game (9-11-30) because Wells hit -.115 (5-8-26).
 
The second set was more lopsided in favor of NJCU offensive—a 12-4 margin in kills—led by four kills by Arslani, and three kills, a .750 percentage, and eight assists by Beaumont, while Prensa put three kills away. The Knights hit .381 in the period (12-4-21) while limiting the Express to a -.190 attack rate (4-8-21). The Knights again had a sizeable early lead, taking margins of 19-8 and 22-9 before prevailing by 11, 25-14.
 
In the third set, NJCU held the Express to a -.200 percentage and just three kills. Tied at 10-10, NJCU outscored the Express 15-7 to finish the set, including an 11-5 run after Wells had drawn within 14-12.
