NJCU, RUTGERS-NEWARK SPLIT EXTRA-INNING ONE-RUN CONTESTS

- Casey Perez scored five runs between the two games and tallied four hits in a leadoff role.

NEWARK, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com)
 | Junior center fielder CASEY PEREZ (West New York, NJ/Academy of the Holy Angels) scored five runs in two games as New Jersey City University split a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader against Rutgers-Newark, winning the opener, 12-11 in 10 innings before falling in the nightcap in eight, 2-1 on April 13 at Alumni Field.
 
NJCU is 12-17 after the doubleheader split of a series it leads, 34-31. Newark's record is now 6-18 and both schools are 1-9 in the NJAC. The two schools combined for 33 hits in the first game before notching only 10 between them in the nightcap.
