ALL-TIME NO-HITTERS FOR/AGAINST
GLASSBORO, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | No. 17 ranked Rowan University held 
New Jersey City University to two hits in game one and no-hit the Gothic Knights for the second year in a row in game two as the Profs swept a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader on April 6, winning game one, 8-0 in five innings, and 6-0 in the nightcap.
Rowan, winners of 19 in a row, and ranked 17
th in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 Poll, scored in six of 10 innings on the day, and improves to 23-3 on the day and 6-0 in the NJAC while NJCU (10-13, 0-6 NJAC) dropped its third straight. The Profs lead the all-time series, 30-0.
 
Two-time First-Team All-NJAC third baseman 
REBECCA SATZ (Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown) returned to the lineup in game one after missing nine games with an injury.
	***GAME 1: ROWAN 8, NEW JERSEY CITY 0***
In the opener Rowan limited the Gothic Knights to two hits over five innings while scoring eight runs on nine hits. Rowan senior first baseman 
Stephanie Labas (Millville, NJ/Millville) broke the program's career home run record with her 26th round-tripper in the opener and finished with three runs and three RBIs for the day.
 
Senior pitcher 
LeAnne Miller (Vineland, NJ/Vineland), who no-hit NJCU last season, picked up the win (13-2) for Rowan as she allowed two hits in 3.0 innings and struck out four batters (one walk). Rookie 
Allison Nolan (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) pitched the final 2.0 innings of relief for the Profs and struck out two batters while retiring all six she faced.
 
Offensively for Rowan, 
Labas was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs. Sophomore second baseman 
Alysa Romero (Newfield, NJ/Vineland) drove in two runs in a 1-for-3 effort and freshman shortstop 
Shilah Snead (Malaga, NJ/Delsea Regional) scored twice. Rookie designated hitter 
Ashley DeYoung (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) was 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
 
Also for the Profs, junior catcher 
Meagan Lee (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest), freshman 
Christina Lee (Galloway, NJ/Absegami) and sophomore third baseman 
Jess Phillips (Woolwich, NJ/Kingsway Regional) each scored a run. Sophomore center fielder 
Shannon Costello (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was 1-for-1 with an RBI.
 
Senior righty 
ASHLEY O'BEIRNE (Wood-Ridge, NJ/Immaculate Conception) suffered the loss in the opener (10-11). In 4.0 innings, she allowed nine hits, eight earned runs while finishing with three walks and two strikeouts.
 
Offensively, freshman right fielder 
THALIA GARCIA (Ridgefield, NJ/North Bergen) and designated hitter 
JULIANA JACOBSON (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) had the lone two hits for NJCU.
 
Rowan scored three times in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run triple by 
Romero. In the third, 
Labas led off with her record-setting homerun to right field—her sixth of the year—before 
Costello doubled to right for a 5-0 lead.
 
Rowan would tack on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to seal the victory in five innings. A fielder's choice and an error allowed the sixth and seventh runs to cross before a 
DeYoung double added the final run, knocking in 
Labas.
 
	***GAME 2: ROWAN 6, NEW JERSEY CITY 0***
In the nightcap, three pitchers combined on a seven-inning no-hitter of the Gothic Knights. It was the 27
th time in school history NJCU has been no-hit, the third time by Rowan and the second year in a row. The Profs lost a perfect game with one out in the sixth inning when sophomore 
left fielder TAYLOR SETAR (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) drew a walk.
 
Freshman pitcher 
Beth Ann Hyland (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick), the second pitcher used by the Profs, picked up her second win of the season (2-0). In 4.1 no-hit innings between the second and sixth innings, she struck out four of the 13 batters she faced.
 
Junior 
Krysti Maronski (Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gloucester County Institute of Technology) threw the first inning, striking out one. Junior 
Jamie Lambe (Stratford, NJ/Sterling) walked the first batter she faced before retiring the final five batters of the game.
 
Romero had another strong offensive performance for Rowan in game two as she drove in three runs and scored once in a 2-for-3 effort. 
Snead scored twice and 
DeYoung supplied one run and one RBI for the Profs. Junior left fielder 
Jennifer Arcella (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) and 
Labas scored the other two runs for Rowan.
 
O'Beirne suffered her second loss of the day as she allowed three earned runs and seven hits, six runs, with one strikeout and two walks in 6.0 innings.
 
Rowan scored once in the first as 
Snead scored on a passed ball with two outs. In the third, 
Snead scored again when 
Arcella reached on an error by the center fielder and advanced to second. 
Arcella later scored the third run on a 
DeYoung single.
 
The Profs would tack on three more runs in the fifth to build a 6-0 lead as 
Romero homered to left center to score 
DeYoung and 
Labas.
 
NJCU returns to action on Tuesday, April 9 at 3 p.m., when it hosts William Paterson in a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader.
