Box Score STATEN ISLAND, NY (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | The College of Staten Island scored three times in each half, putting 19 of its 25 shots on goal as the Dolphins blanked the
New Jersey City University women's soccer team, 6-0, in the second round of the CSI Soccer Fall Classic on September 1 at the CSI Soccer Complex.
Both teams entered the game having won their tournament opener, making the second round game comparable to a championship game. CSI (2-0) outshot the Gothic Knights (1-1), 25-4.
In defeat, junior goalkeeper
BRITTANY HOFFMAN (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) and sophomore transfer Cassie
Lubonski (Edison, NJ/Edison) each played one half.
Hoffman made seven saves against 12 shots while
Lubonski stopped six shots, facing 13. CSI's
Victoria Donegan made two saves in the shutout.
In the first of two meetings between the clubs this year, all of CSI's offense came from two players.
Demi-Jean Martorano and
Samantha Wysokowski each netted a hat trick.
Martorano added two assists for an eight-point effort, scoring the first (14:51), third (23:51) and sixth (78:01) goals while assisting on the fourth and fifth tallies.
Wysokowski collected the second (20:06), fourth (47:58) and fifth (49:33) goals with the latter two coming in a span of 1:35 in the 48
th and 50
th minutes.
Danielle Smith, Megan Burke and
Senda Karagozler each contributed a single assist.
Junior midfielder
AMANDA FILIPPONE (Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearley) had two of NJCU's four shots, putting both on goal.
NJCU will play the first of eight home games on Saturday, September 7 at 11 a.m. when it hosts Sarah Lawrence College at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
