New Jersey City University completed a 2-0 effort at the Sarah Lawrence Invitational on September 21, knocking off The King's College (NY), 3-1 (25-13, 17-25, 25-18, 25-21) in the second of two afternoon contests.
NJCU (3-7) committed 29 attack errors in the match but compensated for that with a more than 2-to-1 advantage in kills—a decisive 46-22 margin—in the first-ever meeting against King's (1-7).
Medley, who registered her 16
th career effort of double-digit kills and third of the season, posted her most kills since twice landing 16 kills as a freshman in 2011—the same year she also had a 25-kill performance. She hit at a .281 rate (16-7-32).

MARISSA SCARPA (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) contributed a double-double of 12 kills (12-7-33, .152) and 12 digs. It was her sixth career double-digit kill effort, matching her career high accomplished twice before.

NJCU struggled in the second set, committing 12 attack errors for a -.156 percentage (7-12-32). TKC only had four kills in the game but limited its attack errors (four). The Lions used those miscues to build an 11-2 lead, tying the match at 1-1 with a 25-17 decision.
But NJCU awoke for set three, putting away 11 kills (TKC had four). The Knights unleashing 16 kills in the fourth set to power its way to a 3-1 win. TKC did keep it close in the fourth set, pulling with 20-19, 22-20 and 23-21 before
Medley put away her sweet 16
th kill on match point.
Medley had two kills in the fourth set. Her most productive game was the third with six kills.
On day two of the tournament on September 22, NJCU faces Manhattanville College (all-time series, 4-4) at 1 p.m., followed by its first-ever meeting with host Sarah Lawrence College at 3 p.m.
