Brittany Hoffman (
McMurray, PA/Peters Township) made 19 saves, including a number of highlight-reel caliber stops for
New Jersey City University, but No. 12/17 ranked The College of New Jersey put 25 of its 41 shots on goal and found the net four times in the first half before defeating NJCU, 6-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's soccer game on October 11 at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
TCNJ (10-2-0, 4-1-0 NJAC) entered the game ranked No. 12 by D3soccer.com and No. 17 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with a No. 4 place in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III South Atlantic poll. TCNJ, which has been ranked as high as No. 8 by D3soccer on September 7, is the defending NJAC champion and has won four of the last five titles and 16 of 20 overall conference championships since the league began sponsoring women's soccer as an official NJAC sport in 1994.
NJCU (3-6-2, 0-4-0 NJAC) was shutout for the fourth straight game and is winless in its last six contests (0-5-1). The Knights did not have a shot in the setback.
In defeat,
Hoffman made nine saves in the first half and 10 more in the second period. She recorded double digits in saves for the 24
th time in her career and fourth time this season—narrowly missing her eighth career 20-save effort.
On a wet grass field following a morning of steady rain, the Lions scored twice in a span of 90 seconds in the fifth and seventh minutes and added tallies in the 14
th and 37
th frames for a 4-0 halftime advantage when the visitors had 21 shots. TCNJ added 20 shots in the second half, netting a pair of goals in 50 seconds in the 82
nd and 83
rd minutes.

Elizabeth Thoresen (Colts Neck, NJ/Red Bank Catholic)'s fourth score at 6:13. Both players logged 22 minutes of action.
Sophomore forward
Christine Levering (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) also finished with three points in just 15 minutes on the pitch. She assisted on the winner and scored her team-best eighth tally of the season at 13:38 for a 3-0 margin.
Junior forward
Justine Larocca (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) scored an unassisted tally, her fourth, at 36:03. The Lions saw late goals at 81:35 and 82:25 by freshman forward

Marissa Scognamiglio (Orangeburg, NY/Pearl River)—both their second markers of the season.

- Brittany Hoffman upped her career saves total to 542.
- Other than a penalty kick against The Sage Colleges on September 25, NJCU has not scored a run of play goal since Amanda Filippone's golden goal against Sarah Lawrence on September 27—a span of 650:00.
- TCNJ has allowed just three goals all season, both in losses to other nationally-ranked clubs—a 2-1 road defeat at Johns Hopkins University (September 13) and a 1-0 decision vs. Montclair State University on October 4 (0.27 goals against average).
