NJCU (14-11, 9-9 NJAC) ran the table in the final two weeks of the season to win its final four games but lost the opportunity to host an NJAC Tournament quarterfinal game when Kean University rallied to defeat then first-place Rutgers-Newark, 77-73, on Wednesday night. Camden's season ends at 4-21 (2-16 NJAC). NJCU knocked off the Scarlet Raptors for the 18th consecutive meeting and 46th time in 47 games.

The victory also guaranteed NJCU will finish with a winning record for the 37th time in its last 39 seasons and a .500 or better record and non-losing season for the 43rd time in 44 years.

In the NJAC Quarterfinals, NJCU will face Kean, the No. 4 seed, on Saturday, February 22 at 4:30 p.m. at Harwood Arena in Union, NJ. The Cougars won the season series—71-50 in Union on January 4 and 65-61 in Jersey City on February 1. The winner faces top-seeded Richard Stockton College in the NJAC Semifinals on February 26.

Senior small forward WALIK ALBRIGHT (Jersey City, NJ/Create Charter) had another outstanding effort, finishing with 17 points (6-9 FG), including both threes he attempted, along with seven rebounds, five steals and three assists despite only playing 24 minutes with four fouls. He upped his career scoring total to 1,125 points and reached double figures for the ninth game in a row.

Junior point guard JOURDAN ROBERSON (Brooklyn, NY/University (Newark)) scored 12 of his 17 points in the first half and equaled Albright with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-5 three-point prowess. Sophomore shooting guard KHALID MUHAMMAD (Orange, NJ/Orange) netted 13 points (4-10 FG), including 5-of-5 from the line, with a pair of assists.

Also for NJCU, senior point guard JAHMILL JENKINS (Elizabeth, NJ / Elizabeth) came off the bench to score 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-6 3FG) while junior guard JUSTIN HARTE (Irvington, NJ/Irvington) tallied four assists.

Camden had three players score in double figures, accounting for 54 of its 68 points. John Tatem had a game-high 20 points (7-10 FG, 6-8 FT) in a full 40 minutes of action while Teon Russell collected 18 points (5-11 FG) and five rebounds in 39 minutes. Alex Smart provided 16 points (7-13 FG), five rebounds and three steals. The Raptors also got a game-high eight rebounds from Robert Anders while Jason Richardson picked off five steals.

In a sloppy game possession-wise, NJCU committed a season-high 25 turnovers—its most in a game in two years—while Camden coughed it up 23 times. Despite the turnovers, NJCU's ball distribution did lead to shots with 18 of 26 made baskets earning an assist.

After playing the lowest scoring overtime game during the shot clock era in NCAA men's basketball history in the first meeting of the season on January 15 (39-38, 1 OT), the two clubs played a tightly-contested first half, with eight ties, until a three by Roberson and a Muhammad three-point play gave NJCU the largest lead of the opening period for either side (36-30). The Knights went to the break ahead 36-32.

Camden opened the second half on a 12-3 run, claiming a five-point lead, 44-39, with 16:33 to play on a Tatum three-point play. The hosts maintained a five-point cushion (50-45) after Smart hit a pair from the line with 11:58 to play.

But NJCU unleashed a 12-0 run midway through the period and turned the deficit into a 57-50 advantage with 9:47 to play. After a basket by senior forward KHALID CRAWFORD-MUHAMMAD (Plainfield, NJ/Plainfield), he fed Muhammad for a layup to make it a one-point game. Crawford-Muhammad then stole the next possession setting up another Muhammad basket and NJCU, up 51-50, wouldn't trail again. Albright and Muhammad each sank a pair from the line and Albright's layup capped the run.

Rutgers-Camden managed to cut the deficit to 57-54 with 7:26 remaining before Roberson canned a huge three-pointer to start an 8-1 run.  Jenkins buried another triple to push the lead to nine (63-54) and a bucket by Crawford-Muhammad, who had six points in the win, made it a 10-point lead. Albright's consecutive layups at 4:44 and 3:47 extended the differential to a dozen (69-57) and led 71-63 entering the final minute before the Raptors added a couple of late baskets to make the final result more respectable.
