Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RIVERDALE, NY (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University freshman middle hitter SHELDON COURE (Torrance, CA/Redondo Union (CA)) had looked rather impressive in the first dozen matches of his collegiate career but on March 1, he took his game to a whole other dimension. The reigning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week posted a career high 19 kills in a 3-0 sweep of The Sage Colleges (25-20, 25-20, 25-21)—then broke it—slamming 25 kills as NJCU outlasted The College of Mount Saint Vincent, 3-2 (19-25, 25-16, 27-25, 29-31, 15-12), in a Skyline Quad hosted by MSV.

Coure had 44 kills in the two matches, finishing with a .479 attack percentage in the two league matches (44-10-71) and 11 blocks. Coure becomes just the sixth player on record in the 25-year history of the program to register 25 or more kills in a match and it's the 14th total occurrence in program history.

Meanwhile, after NJCU lost its first eight matches of the season against difficult competition, the Gothic Knights have begun playing their best volleyball and have reeled off six consecutive wins—primarily in league play—to improve to 6-8 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

"These were two great team wins," said first-year head coach Robert Cole. "We had different guys step up at different times. We worked on a few things this week in practice that really made the difference today. I can't say enough about Sheldon and Daque [Wilcox]. They've done a great job all year and today they took over when we needed them to."
