NJCU dropped to 0-4 with the pair of defeats.

***Kenyon 6, NJCU 0***
Kenyon, members of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) in Ohio, scored twice in the third, fourth and fifth innings and amassed 14 hits in the 6-0 triumph. Kenyon, known for its 58 NCAA Division III national championships, including 32 in men's swimming and diving and 23 more in women's swimming and diving, was already playing its 15th game of the season and improves to 12-3.

NJCU had five hits in the loss. Perez was 2-for-3 including her second triple in as many games. Senior catcher MARISSA BARISO (Hewitt, NJ/West Milford) was 1-for-3 with a double. Freshman right fielder YAQUELIN IGLESIAS (White Plains, NY/White Plains) and sophomore designated player THALIA GARCIA (Ridgefield, NJ/North Bergen) were each 1-for-3.

Junior right-hander Maddy Stark was in total control for the Ladies. She struck out 11, walked none, and allowed just the five hits in a 7.0 inning, 78-pitch shutout effort while improving to 6-2.

Four Ladies had multiple hits. Chelsea Delaney led Kenyon with three RBIs, batting 2-for-4 while Danielle Elizarraraz was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Meredith Williams and Lindsey Susolik each finished 2-for-4 with Susolik doubling and scoring in the win.

Also for Kenyon, pinch hitter Sylvie Thomas had a two-run double and Liz Paterra scored twice. The Ladies were the beneficiaries of five Gothic Knight wild pitches.

Junior left-hander ASHLEY LATUSHKO (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) started both games for NJCU (0-3). She went 3.1 innings against Kenyon, allowing four runs and six hits with three walks and one strikeout. Rookie right-hander MELISSA MENDOZA (Union, NJ/Union City) threw the final 3.2 innings, allowing one earned run (two runs) and eight hits with a strikeout.

Kenyon had one hit through two innings but got all the offense it needed in the third, scoring twice on three hits while leaving the bags full. An RBI single by Delaney put the Ladies on the board before Elizarraraz, who singled, scored on the third wild pitch of the inning.

In the fourth, Delaney slipped a two-RBI single through the right side of the infield for a 4-0 margin before a two-run Thomas double in the fifth inning, the second double of the frame, accounted for the final runs.
***Curry 6, NJCU 1***
NJCU and Curry were even at 1-1 after five innings before the Colonels scored four times in the top of the sixth and added a single run in the seventh en route to the 6-1 decision. Curry (2-2) had a 10-4 differential in hits in the game.

Curry junior righty Taylor Ahearn was the difference, striking out nine batters without walking a batter in a full 7.0 innings. She allowed four hits and one unearned run. She improved to 2-0 with 17 strikeouts in two days.

Perez went 2-for-3 and scored NJCU's lone run in defeat. Bariso added her second double of the day and 26th of her career. Latushko allowed six runs and 10 hits (nine singles) with seven walks.

Offensively for Curry, catcher Allie Carver was 2-for-2 and second baseman Paige Smigiel went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.

Curry, members of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) scored in the top of the first. Amy Nolan walked and with one out came home on a bases-loaded sac fly to right by Kelly Duggan. A strong relay throw in right field by Garcia to freshman third baseman KAYLA MUNIZ (North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen) to Bariso gunned down a second potential runner at the plate.

NJCU got the run back in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Perez singled and stole second before an error in right field on ball put in play by Iglesias tied it at 1-1.

Curry threatened in the fourth and fifth but NJCU kept it deadlocked. But in the sixth, a leadoff walk to Duggan followed by a one-out single by Smigiel put the Colonels on top. Another walk, followed by a two-out single by Megan Flaherty made it 3-1 and Heather Carrier, who walked, scored on a wild pitch. An RBI single by Nolan scored Flaherty to cap the four-run inning. Curry added a sixth run on a pinch hit ground ball by Sarah Stone that resulted in an error, allowing a runner at third to cross the plate in the seventh.

Day three of the trip sees the action shift to Cape Coral, Fla. with games against Mount Mary University (0-8, Lost 27) and North Park University (3-1) at 1 and 3 p.m. on March 12.
