Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WEEHAWKEN, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Stevens Institute of Technology limited New Jersey City University to seven hits in two games and swept a non-conference  softball doubleheader, 12-0 (5 innings) and 6-0, at Weehawken Waterfront Park on March 22.

Stevens (8-4) won its third straight and extended its shutout streak to three in a row and 21 consecutive innings. NJCU (2-12) dropped its fifth straight.

*** GAME 1: Stevens 12, NJCU 0 (5 innings) ***
Senior left-hander Kayla Berardi (3-3) limited NJCU to three hits, striking out five against one walk in a 5.0 inning shutout performance in game one.

Senior catcher MARISSA BARISO (Hewitt, NJ/West Milford) had two of NJCU's three hits, including a double. Freshman third baseman BRIANNA ROSARIO (Roselle, NJ/Abraham Clark) also singled. Junior left-hander ASHLEY LATUSHKO (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) took the loss (2-6).

Stevens had 13 hits, led by sophomore center fielder Gavriella Risman-Jones, who was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and freshman right fielder Kelly Klewicki batted 2-for-3 with three RBIs, courtesy of a three-run homerun, and scored two runs. Junior catcher Jamie DeGennaro added two runs and one RBI, hitting 2-for-4. Berardi helped her own cause, batting 2-for-2 with two runs, one RBI and a walk.

Also for Stevens, second baseman Sydney Spitz was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI and junior first baseman Noelle Mulligan scored twice.

The Ducks scored twice in the first and third innings before a six-run fourth inning enforced the eight-run rule after five innings. Klewicki's three-run homer in the first provided the only runs Stevens would need. Risman-Jones had a two-run double in the third. Stevens had 11 batters come to the plate in the decisive fourth inning with six different players generating an RBI in the inning.

*** GAME 2: Stevens 6, NJCU 0 ***
In game two, Stevens scored two runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings in a defensively clean game in which neither side committed an error.

Stevens junior right-hander Brianna Sandone (Haddon Township, NJ/Bishop Eustace) tossed the shutout win, improving to 5-1 as she scattered four singles with five strikeouts and a walk.

Senior center fielder CASEY PEREZ (West New York, NJ/Academy of the Holy Angels) batted 2-for-3 and swiped two bags—giving her 58 in 60 attempts in her career. She is 13-for-13 this season and 40-for-40 in the last two years.

Junior righty TAYLOR SETAR (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) made her third career start (0-3), allowing just four runs and six hits with a strikeout (four walks) in 4.2 innings. Latushko tossed the final 1.1 innings.

Stevens designated player Stephanie Senkevich (Washington, NJ/Westwood) was 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBIs, one walk and a two-run homerun in the fourth inning that gave Stevens a 2-0 advantage.

DeGennaro, who was 4-for-7 in the doubleheader, finished 2-for-3 with one RBI in the fifth inning for a 5-0 margin after a sac fly by Mulligan accounted for the fourth run. Senior shortstop Danielle DeFeo (Andover, NJ/Newton) batted 2-for-3 with a run scored and sophomore Oriana DeFeo-Peterson had a two-run pinch-hit single in the sixth inning.

NJCU heads to Staten Island, NY on Monday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m. for a non-conference doubleheader at the College of Staten Island.
