Box Score 2 CAMDEN, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | In a New Jersey Athletic Conference opening doubleheader for both schools that was twice delayed by rain this weekend, Rutgers-Camden limited the
New Jersey City University softball team to three hits in two games, sweeping NJCU, 10-0 and 9-1 on March 31 at Rutgers University-Camden Community Park. Both games ended after five innings due to the eight-run rule.

Camden improved to 9-4-1 and 2-0 in the NJAC while NJCU (2-16, 0-2 NJAC) saw its losing streak reach nine. Junior right-hander
TAYLOR SETAR (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) smacked a solo homerun in the third inning of game two—her second round-tripper of the season—for NJCU's only hit in the nightcap.
Setar had two of NJCU's three hits on the day, twice breaking up no-hitter bids.

Sophomore righty
Brittany Scott won both games for Camden (8-3). In the opener she allowed singles in the fourth and fifth innings. In game one, she struck out four and walked three in 5.0 shutout innings. In game two, she fanned eight, walked two and allowed one run and one hit. In 10.0 combined innings she struck out 12 batters. Offensively, she was a combined 4-for-6 with four RBIs and three runs in the twinbill.

*** GAME 1: Rutgers-Camden 10, NJCU 0 (5 innings) ***
In the opener, Camden scored five times in the first inning and tacked on four runs in the fourth for a 10-0 lead, finishing with 10 hits overall.

Center fielder
Lindsay Day finished 1-for-2 with four RBIs, a run and walk. All four RBIs came on a grand slam homerun in the first inning that made it 5-0.

Third baseman
Katie Larson was 2-for-2 with four RBIs, two runs and a walk, and slammed a three-run homer in the four-run fourth inning. Her walk came with the bases loaded in the first inning and pushed across the first run.

Scott helped her own cause, batting 2-for-3 with a ground-rule RBI double in the second inning and a run scored. First baseman
Jessea Macaluso and shortstop
Krystine Rice each scored twice.
Macaluso also had an RBI single in the fourth inning prior to the clinching three-run shot. . Junior left-hander
ASHLEY LATUSHKO (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) took the loss (2-8).

*** GAME 2: Rutgers-Camden 9, NJCU 1 (5 innings) ***
In game two, Camden scored six times in the second inning before collecting single runs in the third, fourth and fifth frames. The Raptors chipped in 12 hits. Neither side committed an error in a clean defensive game.

Scott was also the top offensive weapon for the Raptors, batting 2-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs and a walk. She had a two-run single in the second inning that made it a 4-0 contest before her single to the gap in the bottom of the fifth proved to be a walk off hit, pushing the margin to eight runs.

Second baseman
Cait Eltzholtz was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, posting an RBI single in the second and a run-producing triple in the third. Designated player
Gabby Colon was the only other Camden player with multiple hits, batting 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored, doubling in a run in the second inning.

Devon Walsh scored twice and doubled.
Larson drove in the sixth run in the second inning with a ground ball and Â
Day had an RBI single in the fourth inning for an 8-1 margin.

Eight of nine Raptors had at least one hit with six collecting an RBI and seven scoring. Five different Raptors had at least a hit, run and RBI in the win.
Setar (0-5) took the loss for NJCU in her fifth-ever start.

NJCU's toughest test of the young season is tomorrow—Tuesday, April 1 at 3 p.m. when the Knights face Kean University (13-3, 0-0 NJAC) in NJAC action in Union, NJ. Kean received nine votes in the
March 26 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III national poll—equivalent to a No. 27 national ranking with a new poll expected Tuesday.
