NJCU, which outhit the Griffins, 12-5, got on the board early in the first inning when Wagner doubled to left center with one out and scored on a two-out single to right by Martucci. GM got even with its only run of the game when junior catcher Eric Heaney walked to lead off the fifth and scored on a double by junior third baseman Greg Brooks (Voorhees, NJ).

But NJCU responded in the sixth, reclaiming a one-run lead. Giordano led off with a single, advanced on a throwing error and scored on a two-out single down the right field line by Ruscingno with what proved to be the game-winning run.

NJCU, which has not had much success in one or two-run games this season—with eight of its last 13 losses coming by two or less runs and a 4-11 overall record in contests decided by two runs or less this season—made sure this one wouldn't be a nail-biter. The Knights scored five times on three hits (one error) in the seventh to seize a 7-1 advantage.
After a D'Errico single and a hit by pitch, an error on a sacrifice by Wagner loaded the bags. Giordano deposited a two-run single into right center, Martucci singled, and NJCU led 5-1.

Although no RBI is credited. Ruscingno grounded into a productive double play, knocking in Giordano, before Martucci, who moved to third on the groundout, scored on a two-out wild pitch.

A two-run single by Ruscingno in the ninth inning added two more runs and put an exclamation mark on the victory.

NJCU's game against Centenary College on April 30 was moved to May 2 due to forecasted rain, so the Knights will return to the field on Thursday, May 1 in a non-conference game against Penn State Abington in Abington, PA in a makeup of a March 1 postponement.
