Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Rutgers University-Camden had been shutout in six straight games coming in but ended that skid 13:13 into the first half and the Scarlet Raptors added three more tallies in the period en route to a 5-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over
New Jersey City University on October 20 at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
Rutgers-Camden (4-8-1, 1-5-1 NJAC) snapped a six-game losing streak and picked up its first NJAC win of the season. NJCU (4-10-1, 0-7-0 NJAC) dropped its fourth in a row. Camden outshot the Gothic Knights, 24-8 in a physical game that saw 39 fouls whistled.
Sophomore midfielder
Aubrey Andrews (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) snapped Camden's 605:24 scoreless minutes drought—the third longest in program history—when she scored an unassisted goal, dribbling through defenders on the far right wing before shooting a ball across the box that skipped into the near left side netting.
Junior forward
Catherine Fiore (Collingswood, NJ/Paul VI) added her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 31st minute before junior forward
Kylee Schairer (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) bagged a brace with her first two goals of the season in the 39th and 41st minutes to put the game out of reach.
Freshman midfielder
Melissa Peel (Gibbstown, NJ/Gloucester County Tech) assisted on the second goal before sophomore goalkeeper
Katie Gurba (Westampton, NJ/Holy Cross) was credited with an assist on the third goal when her punt led to a breakaway. Senior midfielder
Tori Gerstenacker (Howell, NJ/Howell) contributed to the fourth goal. Camden outshot NJCU 11-4 in the opening 45 minutes.
Sophomore forward
Amber Cobb (Mullica Township, NJ/Cedar Creek) added the fifth goal in the 83rd minute off an assist from freshman back
Maggie Sande (Medford, NJ/Shawnee). Senior goalkeeper
Cassie Lubonski (Edison, NJ/Edison) stopped eight shots for NJCU.
Gurba stopped two shots to notch the Raptors' second shutout of the season.
NJCU's best scoring opportunity came in the 37th minute when rookie midfielder
Daniela Betancourt (West New York, NJ/Memorial) swiped possession from a Camden defender at the top of the 18 and aimed near post before
Gurba raced off her line to make a diving left-handed save.
Fiore had a game-high seven shots with three on goal and
Gerstenacker had four tries as 11 different Raptors had a shot in the game.

- Rutgers-Camden leads the all-time series, 13-3.
- NJCU had a 4-2 margin in corner kicks in the loss.
- The game was a makeup of a contest scheduled for September 26 but rescheduled due to Pope Francis's visit to Philadelphia.
