New Jersey City University women's basketball team 24-4 in the fourth quarter and blocked 14 shots in the game as the Lions upended NJCU, 67-36, in a non-conference women's basketball game at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (Coach Charlie Brown Court) on December 19.

Bryn Athyn College (2-3) led by just seven at halftime (29-22) and opened its margin to 11 after three quarters before pulling away from NJCU (1-9, lost 7) in the fourth to snap a three-game skid in the second-ever meeting between the clubs.

The Lions 14 blocks were the most by an NJCU opponent in 11 years and BAC used its size to control most aspects of the game. It outscored NJCU in the paint, 34-18 and 16-4 on the fast break while turning 22 Gothic Knight giveaways into a 19-9 margin in points off turnovers. BAC also outrebounded the Knights, 53-38.

The Lions, members of the North Eastern Athletic Conference, shot 41.3 percent overall (26-63). NJCU made just 12 field goals (12-57), shooting a season-low 21.1 percent after a similar 21.3 percent rate in a loss to Kean in its last game on December 12. The Knights also struggled from three-point distance (.167, 3-18) and the line (9-24, .375).

Bryn Athyn got a huge double-double effort from junior guard
Kristina Clark (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy), who amassed 16 points (4-8 FG, 8-12 FT), 16 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals in 34 minutes. She had 13 rebounds in 19 minutes in the first half when she also contributed six points and two blocks.

Junior forward
Taylor Davis (Philadelphia, Pa.) tallied 12 points (6-10 FG) and had five blocks and five rebounds in 24 minutes and junior guard
Keana Schoennagle (Hazleton, Pa.) was the third player in double figures for the Lions with 10 points (4-10 FG) and three steals.

Defensively, freshman forward
Sarah-Elizabeth Atunrase (Yardly, Pa.) came off the bench to collect eight rebounds and reject six blocks. She had all six of her points on 3-of-3 shooting with six boards and three blocks in 10 first half minutes. Junior guard
Bianca Feliciano (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) chipped in nine rebounds.

In defeat for NJCU, freshman guard/forward
Christine Bizub (Fort Lee, NJ/Fort Lee) had eight of her team-high 11 points in 11 minutes in the first half while
Johnson finished with 10 rebounds (eight defensive) and nine points. She registered 10 or more rebounds in a game for the fifth time this season and 12th time in her career. Sophomore power forward/center
Sharaunda Fiedtkou (West Orange, NJ/Bayonne) finished with 10 rebounds (eight defensive), seven points and three steals.

Key Moments:NJCU held a 7-6 lead in the first quarter before BAC scored six of the final eight to own a 12-9 edge after one period. It remained tight midway through the second quarter when
Bizub hit a three to make it a three-point game (22-19). But the Lions reeled off a 7-1 run for a 29-20 lead before the Knights scored in the final seconds of the half.

NJCU remained within striking distance until the final minute of the third quarter when
Schoennagle hit a three with 17 seconds left for a 13-point advantage. BAC shot 61.1 percent on 11-of-18 in the fourth quarter while limiting the Knights to just 1-of-12 shooting (.083) in the period to pull away. NJCU was 2-of-10 from the line in the final quarter.

#KnightNotes:- Second meeting. All-time series even, 1-1. The schools were meeting for the second straight season. NJCU won last year, 67-49, on a neutral court (at Centenary, Hackettstown, NJ).
- Starting junior point guard Jazz Randall (Parsippany, NJ/West Orange) did not play with an injury.
- NJCU fell to 14-2 all-time against members of the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The loss snapped a 13-game winning streak against current members of the league. The only other previous setback was a 77-75 home loss to the College of Saint Elizabeth on February 11, 1980.
- The 14 opponent blocks were the most since Montclair State also had 14 in Montclair, NJ on February 21, 2004.

What's Next?:In the first game of the 2016 portion of its schedule, NJCU visits St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) in Brooklyn, NY on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. NJCU won the last meeting between the clubs in Jersey City on January 12, 2015, 63-56.
