First Place Stockton Too Strong in 85-47 Loss

GALLOWAY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Tied 10-10 early in the first half, first place Richard Stockton College used a decisive 22-2 outburst over a nearly 12-minute span, which included 15 consecutive points, as the Ospreys won their seventh straight game with an 85-47 decision over New Jersey City University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's basketball game on February 11 at the Stockton Sports Center.

Stockton improved to 19-4 overall and 15-1 in the league by winning for the 12th time in 13 outings. NJCU (9-14, 3-13 NJAC), coming off an 84-69 upset of William Paterson on Monday, was playing its third game in five days.

While the 11:50 run that gave the hosts a 32-12 margin was the difference in the game, Stockton held NJCU without a field goal for a span of 13:25, until the Knights finally converted with 4:14 remaining in the half. By then Stockton had the game well in hand.

Stockton, which led by 23 in the final minute of the first half, held a 43-21 cushion at the break and led by as many as 42 points in the final minute of the second period (85-43) before prevailing by 38.

The 38-point loss was NJCU's most lopsided since a 43-point setback (79-36) against #7/9 Montclair State University on February 6, 2013.
