#25 Montclair Blanks NJCU, 4-0

MONTCLAIR, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Nationally No. 25/25 ranked Montclair State University outshot New Jersey City University, 24-1, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both schools and defeated NJCU, 4-0, on September 13 at the MSU Soccer Park.
 
Montclair upped its mark to 6-1-0 (1-0-0 NJAC) while the Gothic Knights (3-4-1) had their three-game unbeaten streak snapped. All four losses for NJCU this year have been by 4-0 results.
 
MSU, which led 3-0 at the half, scored all three first half goals in a span of 6:41, and received a brace from Jennie Hornstra, who netted the second and fourth goals. Kasey Finn assisted on the first two goals of the game.
 
Martina Landeka scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 18th minute before MSU added to its lead 3:39 later.
 
Tyler Madison later added a goal for MSU (Alex Glickman assist) in the 25th minute for a 3-0 halftime margin before Hornstra netted the final tally just 15 seconds into the second half on a Landeka helper.
 
Senior goalkeeper Cassie Lubonski (Edison, NJ/Edison) made nine saves in defeat for NJCU. After posting three consecutive shutouts entering the day, her scoreless minutes streak was snapped at 345:19.
 
Freshman forward Katherin Merino (Harrison, NJ/Harrison) attempted NJCU's lone shot and put it on target, forcing keeper Erinne Finlayson to make one save in the first half before Amanda Vietri completed the shutout in the second half.
