Lehman Blanks #NJCUWSOC in Hudson Classic Title Game

RIVERDALE, NY (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Lehman College scored three times in a span of 3:49 early in the first half to jump out to a commanding lead in the first-ever meeting between the schools as the Lightning blanked the New Jersey City University women's soccer, 4-0, in the championship game of the Hudson Classic at Mount Saint Vincent on September 6.

Lehman (3-0) outshot NJCU (1-3) by a 13-4 margin in the first half and 20-10 for the game, scoring in the 15th, 16th, 18th and 53rd minutes. All three of NJCU's losses this year have been by 4-0 outcomes.

Senior goalkeeper Cassie Lubonski (Edison, NJ/Edison) made eight saves for the runner-up Gothic Knights. Lehman keeper Stephanie Gonzalez set aside four shots to preserve the shutout.

Three of the four Lightning goals were unassisted and each was scored by a different player. Michelle Reyes Ruis scored the eventual winner at the 14:09 mark when she put away a corner kick from Gredia L. Sanchez.

Just 61 seconds later Chelsey Harris chipped a shot under the crossbar for a 2-0 lead and Juliana Generoso extended the lead to 3-0 at the 17:57 mark when she dribbled to the top of the 18 and hit a shot inside the near post.

Up 3-0 at the break, the Lightning added a fourth at the 52:17 mark when Lillian Barreto dribbled in on a 40-yard breakaway.
