Theo Sanoh (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) scored his ninth goal of the season in the 50th minute but Ramapo College outshot the
New Jersey City University men's soccer team, 20-3 in the first half when it scored twice, and held off the Gothic Knights, 3-1, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on October 15 at the Ramapo Athletic Center.

Ramapo (9-3-2, 2-3-2 NJAC) picked up three points in the conference standings while NJCU (8-7-1, 0-7-0 NJAC), dropped its sixth straight game—all in league play—and is winless in its last seven outings after starting the season a school record 7-0-0. Each team had six second half shots.

Freshman midfielder
Bashar Elsherif (Princeton Junction, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) collected his first career assist on NJCU's lone goal.

Ramapo struck in the 15th and 33rd minutes before adding another just 2:10 into the second half. Neither team could find the net in the final 40 minutes. Â

Justin Olaya netted his fourth goal of the season 14:41 into the game off a double assist from
Trevor Albrecht and
Jorge Castro, before
Edward Franzoni scored the eventual winner at the 32:34 mark, putting away a corner kick by
Albrecht, who notched two assists in the game.
Ryan Campbell's 11th goal of the season—an unassisted strike—made it 3-0 at 47:10. Â

Freshman goalkeeper
Adam Cassidy (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson via County Prep) played the first half and stopped eight shots in 45 minutes before being relieved at halftime by freshman
Steven Pires (Hillside, N.J./Hillside), who stopped two shots in the second half.

Ryan Sprague made five saves for the Roadrunners as six of NJCU's nine shots were on goal.

NJCU will play its third straight road game and its final non-conference contest of the season on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. when it faces Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa. First-year head coach
Joseph Cullen served as the Greyhounds' assistant coach for two seasons (2014-15) before coming to Jersey City. It will be the first-ever meeting in men's soccer between NJCU and Moravian.
