New Jersey City University men's volleyball team split a pair of neutral court matches on February 21, sweeping Lehman College, 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-23) before dropping a tight Skyline Conference outing to The Sage Colleges, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22). Both matches were played on February 21 at the College of Mount Saint Vincent.

NJCU (8-7, 3-3 Skyline) lost its third consecutive Skyline match since opening the season 3-0.

MATCH 1: New Jersey City University 3, Lehman College 0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-23)NJCU hit .353 and defeated Lehman for the 21st time in the last 22 meetings. Sophomore middle hitter
Jalen Sorrell (Edison, NJ/John P. Stevens) hit .450 with 10 kills (10-1-20) and two blocks.

Ivan Prensa (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) hit .385 with seven kills (7-2-13) and three blocks and senior outside hitter
Sheldon Coure (Redondo Beach, CA/Redondo Union) produced six kills, hit .400 (6-2-10) and added four aces and three blocks. Senior outside
Daque Wilcox (Fredericksburg, VA/Camden County Tech, NJ) finished with six kills (6-2-12, .333) and four aces. Freshman setter
Erick Nascimento (Miami, FL/Alonzo Tracy Mourning) chipped in 29 assists and two aces.

Orlando Vargas led Lehman with 10 kills and
Emmanuel Ortiz tallied 21 assists.
Ramon Jimenez collected seven kills, hit .417 and landed four aces.

MATCH 2: The Sage Colleges 3, New Jersey City University 0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22)In a match determined by a combined seven points, Sage squeaked out an important Skyline Conference result.

Ryan Guyton finished with a match-best 11 kills and hit .409 (11-2-22) with six digs and two aces while
Bailey Cecchi added nine kills, nine digs, five blocks (two solo) and two aces.

Coure reached double figures with 10 kills (.300, 10-4-20) and
Prensa hit .533 with nine winners (9-1-15).
Wilcox added eight kills (.312, 8-3-16) and three aces while
Sorrell hit .500 with six putaways (6-1-10).
Nascimento dished 34 assists.

#NextKnightTime:On Wednesday, February 24, the Knights will head to Hoboken, NJ in a cross-county match and take on defending NCAA Division III national champion and current No. 6 ranked Stevens Institute of Technology at 6 p.m. at Canavan Arena. It will be the 43rd meeting between the programs but the first since March 20, 2013 in Jersey City; the Ducks won that outing, 3-1 (25-12, 23-25, 25-18, 25-17). Stevens leads the all-time series, 28-14 and has won 26 consecutive in the series since February, 1998.
